This was the challenge tackled by Active Teams for DNV UK. With a workforce spread across the UK, DNV sought to motivate their staff with a preventative approach to wellbeing, while enhancing team cohesion and creating a more active company culture.
Active Teams developed a comprehensive two-year strategy, focusing first on establishing foundations before scaling engagement across DNV.
Building Foundations: We introduced regular team challenges and Couch to 5K groups, creating opportunities for employees of all fitness levels to participate. This phase focused on understanding what motivated DNV employees and establishing sustainable wellbeing habits.
Amplifying Impact: We enhanced our approach with strategic communications. Monthly promotional videos for internal screens kept wellbeing visible and engaging, while regular team challenges maintained momentum.
Staff have increased their activity levels by 82% during the Active Teams programme, now sustaining 26 Minutes of Movement daily.
The key to success has been creating an inclusive program that works for everyone - from complete beginners to experienced runners, from office-based staff to remote workers. Through consistent communication and inclusive challenges that everyone can take part in, we've helped DNV UK build a culture where physical activity is accessible, enjoyable and encouraged for all staff.
